April 17, 2017 (Memphis, Tenn.) Today the times that Early Voting locations in the Special Election Primary are open for the House District 95 th House of Representatives seat will change. The two locations, one in Germantown at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and the other in Collierville at the Collierville Church of Christ, will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tennessee law requires early voting to take place for a minimum of three hours with some evening hours. In the first week of early voting the polls were open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We wanted a variety of hours so that people could vote regardless of their work schedule.” said Linda Phillips, administrator of elections for the Shelby County Election Commission (SCEC). This election affects a relatively small group of voters, (51,412 of whom 46,597 are active), so SCEC officials decided to open the two early voting precincts in the 95 th district for fewer hours than would be used in a county-wide election. ...
