In a joint video statement issued this week, Gov. Bill Haslam, Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen and Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Commissioner Marie Williams urged adults and schools to stay vigilant of children’s mental health.
While May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, May 4 is specifically set aside as National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. Haslam said kids today face lots of issues that can affect their mental health, ranging from domestic violence to bullying.
